Maintenance Supervisor - Luxury Safari Lodge

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day maintenance and technical operations of a luxury safari lodge in the Madikwe Game Reserve. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the property, facilities, equipment and infrastructure are consistently maintained to a high standard, while leading the maintenance team and ensuring a safe, efficient and well-functioning environment. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership Lead, supervise and coordinate the maintenance team. Allocate daily tasks and monitor performance. Provide guidance, training and support to team members. Promote a culture of safety, efficiency and high-quality workmanship. Maintenance Operations Plan and oversee routine, preventative and reactive maintenance. Manage general electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting and mechanical maintenance. Respond promptly to maintenance requests from lodge staff and guests. Ensure all facilities and infrastructure remain operational and well maintained. Equipment & Stock Management Monitor and maintain maintenance tools, machinery and equipment. Identify faulty equipment and coordinate necessary repairs or replacements. Assist with ordering and controlling maintenance supplies, tools and spare parts. Ensure resources are used efficiently and responsibly. Health, Safety & Compliance Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in line with health, safety and environmental requirements. Conduct regular inspections to identify potential hazards and maintenance risks. Maintain a safe environment for both staff and guests. Ensure appropriate safety procedures are followed across all maintenance activities. Administration & Reporting Maintain accurate maintenance logs, schedules and reports. Monitor departmental costs, budgets and resource usage. Communicate maintenance requirements and issues to management. Work closely with other departments to support the smooth operation of the lodge. Minimum Requirements Matric / Grade 12. Diploma, certificate or relevant qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Building or Facilities Maintenance. Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a maintenance supervisory role, preferably within a luxury lodge, hotel or hospitality environment. Practical knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry and general repairs. Previous experience leading a maintenance team and managing work schedules. Strong technical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent organisational and time-management skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Physically fit and comfortable undertaking hands-on maintenance work. Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
