Description Operations Manager - Luxury Safari Lodge - Western Serengeti, Tanzania 🆕 New Role Kendrick Recruitment is searching for a passionate, proactive and guest-obsessed Operations Manager for a well-regarded luxury safari lodge set within a vast, privately managed wilderness reserve in the Western Serengeti, Tanzania - one of Africa's most iconic and breathtaking wildlife destinations. This is a hands-on, guest-facing operational management role for someone who leads by example, communicates with warmth and takes genuine ownership of the daily lodge experience. You will support senior management across all operational functions, ensuring seamless service delivery, a consistently exceptional guest experience and a positive, motivated team culture. Please note: This is an international live-in position based in Tanzania. Candidates who do not hold Tanzanian citizenship or permanent residency must hold a relevant tertiary qualification in Hospitality Management or a related field, as this is a requirement for Tanzanian work permit applications. The employer will support the work permit process for the right candidate. Minimum Requirements: Higher Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality Management - essential for all non-resident candidates; strongly advantageous for all applicants Minimum 3 to 4 years' operations or lodge management experience, at a 5-star level - essential Computer literate - essential Fluent in English - written and verbal - essential Proven guest relations and hosting skills within a luxury lodge or hotel environment Strong F&B knowledge and understanding of operational standards Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Proactive work ethic with strong analytical and problem-solving ability High attention to detail and a genuine sense of urgency Able to work under pressure while maintaining a positive, guest-focused outlook Passionate about conservation and sustainability Flexible and adaptable with the ability to handle unexpected guest requests with ease Stable work history with outstanding, contactable references Key Responsibilities: 🌟 Guest Experience Connect with guests daily to ensure a personalised, memorable and consistently exceptional experience Check in and check out all guests and manage daily guest itineraries and activities Ensure all guest information, dietary requirements, special occasions and medical needs are communicated proactively across all departments Host and interact with guests daily, gathering and sharing feedback with management and relevant teams Go the extra mile for guests and respond flexibly to unexpected requests 🏨 Lodge Operations Support senior management in the effective day-to-day running of the lodge Oversee all F&B aspects of the lodge and ensure they are maintained to the required standard Place daily operational orders in a timely and budget-conscious manner Monitor beverage controls and maintain administrative functions within the lodge Assist with checking guest rooms and ensuring all guest areas are immaculately presented Assist with the lodge forecast and general office administration Participate in the management and updating of lodge operational to-do lists 👥 Team Leadership & Development Assist in training and developing staff across all departments Ensure all staff are wearing correct uniform at all times Manage staff engagement activities and inter-property staff swaps Maintain open lines of communication across all departments Ensure lodge styling updates are documented and communicated clearly to the team 🌿 Conservation & Sustainability Lead the lodge's green team and conservation initiatives Work towards the sustainability of each department and the company as a whole Actively reduce waste and ensure care of company property Keep the broader region informed of lodge stories and highlights regularly Assist with social media content and PR-related communications where required Package: Market-related salary Live-in: Accommodation and meals provided Permanent position Should you feel you are the right fit for this role, please apply with your updated CV, a motivation letter, contactable references and a recent head and shoulders photo ASAP! 📌 Please Note: If you do not receive feedback within 7 working days, kindly consider your application unsuccessful.
