We’re looking for an Assistant Operations Manager to help run the day-to-day execution across our Cape Town portfolio. You’ll work closely with our Operations Manager, support our Property Managers, coordinate maintenance and projects, and make sure the details don’t get lost along the way. This isn’t a desk-only role - you’ll be in our buildings, working with the team, speaking to residents and guests, and seeing things through from plan to completion. As you grow into the role, you’ll take ownership of bigger projects and more of the day-to-day rhythm of the portfolio. Note that this role requires someone already residing in Cape Town and who owns their own vehicle. What you'll do •Run daily operations stand-ups and follow up on actions •Support and guide our Property Managers •Visit buildings regularly and keep standards consistent •Coordinate maintenance, contractors and suppliers •Run operational projects from launch to completion •Oversee arrivals, exits, inspections and room readiness •Support housekeeping standards, staffing and rosters •Keep residents and guests updated when issues arise •Keep trackers, systems and workflows up to date •Spot recurring problems and help improve or automate processes •Support operations across our hybrid student and short-stay properties •Help launch new properties and put our operating model into practice What we're looking for •Experience in hospitality, property, accommodation or a similar operational role •A natural organiser who can juggle lots of moving parts •Warm, calm and confident with people •Kind and collaborative, but comfortable holding people accountable •Hands-on and happy to spend time in our buildings •Strong follow-through — you don’t leave loose ends hanging •Comfortable working with contractors, suppliers and different teams •Confident using systems, trackers and property management software •Someone who spots patterns and wants to improve how things work •Excited to learn, take on more responsibility and grow with Proper Living
