The Assistant Lodge Management Couple will work together to support the Lodge Manager with the daily management and smooth operation of the lodge. The couple will be responsible for maintaining exceptional guest service standards, assisting with staff management and ensuring that all lodge departments operate efficiently. The ideal couple will bring complementary skills and experience, with a strong combination of guest relations, hospitality operations, Food & Beverage, administration and safari lodge experience. Both individuals should be hands-on, flexible and willing to assist wherever required. Key Responsibilities Assist the Lodge Manager with the overall day-to-day operation of the lodge. Work together as a management team to ensure the smooth running of all lodge departments. Welcome, host and interact with guests throughout their stay. Deliver personalised and professional service in line with luxury lodge standards. Ensure guest requests, queries and concerns are handled promptly and professionally. Assist with guest arrivals, departures, transfers and special occasions. Supervise and motivate lodge staff, ensuring high standards of performance and conduct. Conduct staff briefings and assist with training and development. Assist with staff scheduling and daily operational planning. Oversee and support Food & Beverage service, including breakfast, lunch, dinner and special functions. Ensure dining areas, guest areas and lodge facilities are presented to the required standard. Assist with housekeeping and room inspections where required. Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering, receiving and stock control. Assist with lodge administration, reports, records and general office duties. Monitor maintenance requirements and report any issues to management. Assist with health, safety and hygiene procedures throughout the lodge. Handle guest complaints and resolve problems efficiently and professionally. Maintain excellent communication between all lodge departments. Assist with coordinating activities and ensuring guests receive accurate information about the lodge and surrounding area. Build positive relationships with guests, staff, suppliers and service providers. Maintain a visible management presence and lead by example. Assist with lodge operations in the absence of the Lodge Manager. Be prepared to work hands-on and assist with any operational requirements. Qualifications & Experience Relevant qualification in Hospitality Management, Tourism or a related field is advantageous. Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a hospitality supervisory or management position. Previous experience in a luxury lodge, safari lodge or 5-star hospitality environment is highly advantageous. Strong guest relations and hosting experience. Experience in Food & Beverage operations. Previous staff supervision and team management experience. Good understanding of lodge operations and luxury service standards. Experience working in a remote lodge environment is advantageous. Computer literate with good administrative skills. Knowledge of property management systems would be advantageous. A valid driver's licence is advantageous. Skills & Competencies Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. COUPLE REQUIREMENTS The couple should ideally offer complementary skills that allow them to effectively divide operational responsibilities. One partner may have stronger experience in lodge management, guest relations, administration or Food & Beverage, while the other may have experience in guiding, hospitality, activities, housekeeping or general lodge operations. Both candidates should be willing to assist across departments when required and should understand the demands of working and living together in a remote safari lodge environment. Additional Requirements Previous safari lodge experience is highly advantageous. Must be comfortable living and working in a remote environment. Flexibility to work weekends, public holidays and extended hours when required. Both individuals must be hands-on and willing to assist with operational duties. Valid driver's licences for one or both candidates would be advantageous. A genuine passion for wildlife, safari and luxury hospitality is advantageous. Must be able to work effectively as a professional couple. South African citizenship or valid legal working rights in South Africa may be required. REPORTING STRUCTURE Reports To: Lodge Manager / General Manager Supervises: Lodge staff and departmental teams as delegated by management. IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE The ideal Assistant Lodge Management Couple will be an experienced, energetic and hands-on hospitality couple with a passion for luxury safari operations and exceptional guest service. They should work well together, complement each other's skills and be comfortable taking responsibility for a wide range of lodge operations. The couple must be able to lead from the front, interact confidently with guests, manage staff effectively and maintain high operational standards, while remaining flexible enough to assist wherever required.
